The dealer who built the market for Impressionism is about to be tested by it. Christie's will offer 62 works from the Paul Durand-Ruel family trust in Paris on October 22–23, estimated at €30M–€43M and led by Monet's 'Bord des falaises à Pourville' at €11M–€15M — the strongest provenance story the Impressionist market has had in years, and a bet that Paris Art Week can hold a sale of that size. At the other end of the auction business, Phillips has lost Miety Heiden, Jonathan Crockett, Joseph Prindle and Katherine Thorpe Kerr, and is redirecting toward watches, prints and photography, a category ArtTactic says grew 25 percent in the first half of 2026. Elsewhere: Kerstin Brätsch takes the 2027 Zurich Art Prize with a funded solo at Haus Konstruktiv, Serpentine names its first AI fellowship cohort, and the sculptor Geles Cabrera and photographer Jay Maisel have died.
